Acer celebrates its continued dedication to gender equality and inclusivity, earning recognition on Forbes’ 2023 World’s Top Companies for Women list for the second consecutive year. This year, Acer ascended the rankings, securing the 12th position within the Semiconductors, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Technology Hardware & Equipment category, a significant leap from their 259th place in 2022.
This achievement reflects the positive results of Acer’s unwavering commitment to creating a work environment that champions equal opportunities and fosters a culture of inclusion.
The company’s dedication is further emphasized by the leadership of Sue Ong-Lim, the Managing Director of Acer Philippines. Ong-Lim, who began her career as a Sales Manager in 2009, exemplifies the company’s commitment to promoting women in leadership roles. Her journey to the position of Managing Director this year serves as a powerful testament to Acer’s unwavering support for female career advancement.
“Acer has 34.7% and 39% market share of consumer and gaming notebooks in the Philippines, respectively. This means that more than a third of Filipino consumers who have a laptop own an Acer. The company has decades of building and strengthening brand equity through consistent sales, marketing, and customer service efforts. I see that as our edge over our competitors,” said Ong-Lim.
She attributes her success as a leader to her vision and thirst for learning. She has realized that even those at the top of their game should always continue having a learner’s mindset.
Ong-Lim said her gender doesn’t hinder her being a leader in a male-dominated industry.
“I believe in equality and inclusivity and that people, regardless of gender, are what make an organization special and successful,” she said.
