foodpanda Logistics is taking a significant step towards women’s empowerment in the Philippines with the launch of its “Ka-pandaBIZ: Women on Wheels (WoW)” program. This initiative specifically targets female delivery partners, offering them the tools and resources needed to thrive as micro-entrepreneurs.
Recognizing the increasing number of women joining their delivery fleet (tripling in size by 2023), foodpanda acknowledges the existing gender gap in the workforce. Addressing this disparity, the Ka-pandaBIZ: WoW program provides comprehensive support, including:
- Financial assistance: Php 100,000 in business capital to jumpstart their ventures.
- Mentorship and training: Workshops, online sessions, and guidance from industry experts through their partner organization, HAPINOY’s HapiSkwela program.
- Business development: Focus on areas like store setup, financial management, product marketing, and business expansion.
This initiative aligns with the Philippine Development Plan’s (PDP) goal to increase female labor force participation. By equipping women with the necessary skills and resources, foodpanda creates a sustainable livelihood path that fosters economic independence and community progress.
Building on the Success of Ka-pandaBIZ Women on Wheels
The Ka-pandaBIZ: WoW program builds upon the success of foodpanda’s existing Ka-pandaBIZ initiative. Three Ka-panda delivery partners have already graduated from the program, establishing thriving sari-sari stores.
foodpanda Logistics’ Rider Experience Lead, Ron Sanders, emphasizes their unwavering commitment to supporting and empowering women not only as delivery partners but also as future business owners. He encourages all interested women to join their team, ensuring equal opportunities and ongoing guidance throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
This program serves as a model for inclusive business practices, paving the way for a more balanced and empowered workforce within the delivery industry.
