She’s one of the country’s most treasured vocal talent and was crowned the Philippines’ Rn’B Princess, she’ none other than Kyla. After a long break from releasing an album, she is back with so much power, passion and emotion brought about by her journey through becoming Mrs. Alvarez.
“I have come from a long journey to finally release a new album again and I can say, it feels to great to be back. This new album brings so much excitement and fulfillment in my career that now I have a family of my own, I’m back to what I love doing the most—singing and recording songs for my fellow music lovers” said the Rn’B Princess.
When asked if she also wants to star in a Musical or Theater, she said that she would love to, but the fact that it will take a lot of time away from her family, she decided not to do it in the meantime. As of the moment, she wants to spend more time with her husband and son.
The new album Journey came about after their honey trip on Europe where she was inspired by the beauty of the place and the person she’s with. She started taking notes, writing scribbles which was eventually added into her album of the same title – Journey. She was so excited to share it with her friend, Rn’B Prince, Jay-R which helped her with the melody.
“The title kind of speaks for itself, my journey of life experiences. My last album came out in 2010 and here we are in 2014, and there are a lot of things have happened, obviously. There are a lot of changes that I need to embrace as to the music industry and battle of producing quality songs. And people have seen me go through so many things in the public, whether it’s my personal life or my career,” Kyla shared.
The album includes six original songs, including her two compositions Journey and I Got This. The album also includes a duet with international artist Brian McKnight – My Heart.
Hit-maker Jungee Marcelo also contributed two songs to her album – Atin Ang Walang Hanggan and Kunwa-Kunwari Lang which is the first single co-written by Francis Salazar. A Jazzy song that already peaked #1 on RX 93.1 daily survey. Likewise to its digital format, the song entered the iTunes chart at number one upon release and is now available on www.spinner.ph
Who could not forget her classic hit Hanggang Ngayon which I believe is part of everyone’s OPM playlist, a song that has touched the hearts of many. The song Dito Na Lang is a worthy follow up to the classic hit as it has the same emotion and feel of the song.
Over all, Journey is the comeback that I was waiting for, all 6 songs are worth the wait. I just wish there was more. I’m a fan, I love her voice and I want to see her back in the spotlight doing concerts, international shows, and more albums and guestings. I wish her the best.
