Beer goes well with just about everything, but craft beer does not, and finding its perfect pair is not easy. The Perfect Pint gastro pub at Bonifacio Global City launched the first and only craft beer and food pairing showdown this month, called The Perfect Match. The Perfect Pint invited known chefs, brew masters, food editors/writers to submit their a recipe they created that they believe would go best with a specific craft beer.
The Perfect Pint gastro pub is an ideal getaway after a long, tiring, and stressful day at work. It’s the best place to spend your happy hour. The interior is how I imagined a Gastro pub would look like. Wooden panels on the wall with bricks on the posts. The tables are neatly arranged, giving patrons enough space to move around and meet people.
The search for The Perfect Match runs for four weeks, each week four pairs(food & craft beer) will be featured and will be subjected to a public vote. The winning pair of The Perfect Match will be promoted in print and online media.
- Week 1 (October 20-23) Chef’s Creation
- Week 2 (October 27-30) Band of Brewmasters
- Week 3 (November 3-6) Food Writers’ Hot Of the Press
- Week 4 (November 10-13) Chef’s Special
The night we tasted the pairings created by the Band of Brewmasters.
The Perfect Pint diner, who will avail of the craft beer and food set (P599), will then be eligible to rank the entries, vote for their perfect match and might even win a gift certificate or a Brew Tee for their participation.
That night, I voted for Francis Oñate’s Blackened Chicken Breasts with Charred Cuban Corn Salsa with Sierra Madre Wheat Ale as my perfect pair. The Sierre Madre Wheat Ale is light in taste giving your palette enough room to savor its pair’s flavor. Next is another of Francis Oñate’s creation, then Kiyo Miura’s, and Morgan Kallefjord as my least perfect match. Surprisingly, Morgan’s craft beer was perfect with S’mores. The G-Point Red Head Ale complimented the S’mores sweet taste.
The Perfect Pint gastro pub gives a strong push to the advocacy of promoting our local artisanal craft beer by pairing it with complementary savor dishes. I was used to just pairing beer with just about anything. f
