It was no surprise that 77% admits that they look into the alma matter, they prefer applicants from the top 4 universities – University of Santo Tomas, University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University and De La Salle University. 98% of them will still employ applicants from other universities, but topping the list are Pamanatasan ng Lungson ng Maynila, Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Philippine Normal University. Jobstreet also noted that if you want to be noticed by these companies, you need to have these qualities: willingness to learn, initiative, honesty and integrity, communication skills, trainable and technically knowledgeable.

According to employers, fresh graduates should highlight their internship experience as it is their official first work experience.  Their grades and also their extra-curricular activities should also be noted. If you have been a part of an organization, a church leader, or a club officer better highlight that too as it reflects your leadership quality. 8 out of 10 companies hires fresh graduates in the field of accounting, sales and marketing but you can still land your dream job as long as you have the qualities they look for and you present yourself well.

Jobstreet mentioned why employers will take down your application. The lack of professionalism is first on the list, followed by the lack of communication skills. If you have high salary expectation and do not read the job requirements, then better start reading or researching as companies hate that too. Be aware that companies also check your social media account to better understand your personality, are the type of person who always rants online with an average of 7 selfies a day. What type of articles, videos or photos do you share.  You better start sanitizing your online presence if you want to land your dream job.

Aside from spreading information on their website, Jobstreet also visits colleges and universities educating the graduating students and help them prepare for the road ahead. I guess that what makes them number 1!
