Yabu House of Katsu for MEGA Food Sale

SM Megamall Mega Food Sale started yesterday, Aug 17.  and my first mistake was coming late. I arrived at 7PM and since it’s a Food Sale expect a lot of people. I suggest you already decide which restaurant you want to eat be as early as possible because a lot of shoppers are taking advantage of the Food Sale.

It was our first time eating at Yabu – House of Katsu and it definitely will not be the last. I have eaten a lot of katsu’s in different Japanese restaurants and they were all the same. It’s just like breaded pork/chicken, nothing else. Yabu – House of Katsu does it differently.

You can choose from any two from the four appetizers for P195 but  as part of the Mega Food Sale, Yabu House of Katsu (2F Mega Atrium) – offers Free appetizer set & 2 bottomless lemonades for every order of 2 Katsu sets & All-day bottomless Miso soup for every Katsu set.

  • Wakame – Seawood salad topped with ebiko.
  • Superior Potato & Egg Salad – Chunks of potato and egg, tossed in creamy mayonnaise-mustard dressing.
  • Edmame – Young green soybeans
  • Hiyayakko Tofu – Cold silken tofu cubes in ponzy sauce, sprinkled with bonito flakes.

There a lot of Katsu’s to choose from. What I chose was the Hire and Seafood Katsu Set for Php475.00, it was good for 1-2 persons. While waiting I got my self busy by preparing the sauce/dip. Grind – Pour – Mix. Grind the sesame seeds pour the special sauce and mix. Hire is Japanese for pork tenderloin.

I enjoyed preparing the dip. The smell of sesame seeds is also an appetizer, I think. I probably was just hungry that time. Here it is, Hire and Seafood Katsu Set. The set has black tiger prawn, cream dory, scallop, eggplant and pepper katsus it’s served with unlimited Japanese rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, unlimited cabbage with sesame dresing and a bowl of fruit.

I was at first puzzled about the unlimited cabbage. I mean who would want unlimited raw cabbage? Actually I did, I had more of it instead of rice. What made it special is the dressing.

Here are the other Katsu’s.

If you will be heading to the SM Megamall MEGA Food Sale be there early. A lot of shoppers want to take advantage of the great savings they’ll get. Here are the list of restaurant’s participating in the SM Megamall MEGA Food Sale http://anakngpasig.com/mega-food-sale/.
