The PLDT High Speed Hitters may have fallen short of their championship dreams in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference, but their grit and determination have captivated fans and solidified their status as a force to be reckoned with. Despite losing a heartbreaking semifinal match against the Akari Chargers, the team remains committed to finishing the conference strong and showcasing their signature “puso.”
Led by the inspiring captain Kath Arado, the High Speed Hitters battled through adversity throughout the tournament, playing without their star scorers, Savi Davison and Kianna Dy, due to injuries. Undeterred, the team fought their way to the semifinals, where they faced the undefeated Akari Chargers.
While the High Speed Hitters came agonizingly close to securing a finals spot, a series of unfortunate breaks ultimately cost them the victory. Despite the disappointment, Arado and her teammates remain resolute in their pursuit of a strong finish. “Puso ang ipanlalaban namin,” she declared, emphasizing the team’s unwavering commitment to playing with heart and integrity.
The High Speed Hitters have been buoyed by the overwhelming support from their passionate fanbase. The team’s social media channels have been flooded with messages of encouragement, and the hashtag “We stand with PLDT” trended on X (formerly Twitter) following their semifinal loss.
As the PLDT High Speed Hitters prepare for their final game of the conference, they will undoubtedly draw inspiration from their incredible journey and the unwavering support of their fans. With their hearts on the line and their spirits unbroken, the team is determined to finish strong and leave a lasting impression on the PVL.
Head coach Rald Ricafort has been instrumental in guiding the team through these challenging times. He credits the players’ unwavering focus, discipline, and trust in each other for their resilience. “I think more than the motivation of getting a podium finish, these players remain very focused and disciplined,” Ricafort said. “They truly trust each other, including us as coaches.”
