Globe Empowers the Next Generation of Digital Citizens

As the Philippines’ leader in telecommunications, Globe pushes for a safer and more responsible cyberspace. Back in the context of its annual G Day, Globe had embarked on a school tour across the country in implementing its Digital Thumbprint Program towards effective education of thousands of students all over the country towards responsible online citizenship.

DTP is more than just a program or even a movement. It seeks to train the new sets of digital citizens and provides knowledge and skills on how to mitigate problems encountered in safety and cybersecurity, as well as data privacy, AI ethics, and digital wellness, among others.

This is even more urgent now. To combat cybercrime and online exploitation, there is a need to introduce a lesson to the young minds about the dangers that lie within the vast cyberspace. Globe teaches its students to think for themselves, verify information, and secure personal data, making the digital future a safer one.

Most of the questions thrown to us regarding digital responsibility were answered from the recent batches of school tours, which were conducted at different learning institutions, such as Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, STI Caloocan, and the University of Southern Mindanao. But going through those informative and thoughtful workshops should keep active debates about the ethical side of technology.

Beyond education, Globe takes online safety close to its heart. The company, through various programs, has taken great measures in providing protection against online threats for its customers, including blocking malicious websites and responsible conduct online.

Continuing with the evolution that has been happening with technology all these years, it is imperative to know and adapt to the changes. That is why in Globe, they propel young people to this modern era in utilizing the digital age on their behalf and, therefore, blossom onto a better, brighter future for our nation.
