Every year, the seventeenth of September holds a special place in the hearts of many Filipinos. For the team at Globe, 917 is more than just an iconic prefix or a date on the calendar. It is a moment of celebration, a time to say thank you, and most importantly, an opportunity to bring people closer together. This year, during GDay 2026, that celebration took on a deeply personal meaning as over eight hundred employee volunteers stepped out of their offices and into the streets, proving that connection is about much more than strong signals and fast internet. It is about heart.
Through the flagship 917 Globe of Good campaign, these volunteers showed up for local communities in ways that truly matter. Instead of a typical corporate anniversary, the milestone became a massive movement of sharing. Employees came together to pledge over two million pesos from their own pockets, pairing financial support with hands-on effort to spread warmth across Metro Manila and various provinces.

One of the most touching chapters of this year’s campaign unfolded in Makati and Taguig, where senior citizens stepped into the digital spotlight. Through the Senior Digizen initiative, more than six hundred grandmothers and grandfathers sat down with patient Globe volunteers who acted as tech mentors for the day. In these cozy, lively sessions, the older generation learned how to navigate essential online services, send messages to their loved ones, and spot pesky online scams. It was a beautiful bridge across generations, proving that no one is too old to safely enjoy the benefits of modern technology.

Beyond digital literacy, the spirit of helpfulness flowed into other vital areas. Working hand in hand with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, volunteers spent hours repacking essential food packs for families in need. Others rolled up their sleeves at the SOS Rescue Kitchen to cook and serve warm, nutritious meals. Through a partnership with the Ayala Foundation, teams dedicated their time to reading programs and feeding activities for young school children, while others hopped online to help screen hopeful applicants for the U-Go scholarship program.

For Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Cruz, this is exactly what the company aims to stand for. He shared that GDay is designed to make their people feel deeply valued while celebrating their daily contributions. The most beautiful part of this journey, he noted, is watching employees extend that very same care to the communities they serve. When team members freely give their time and share what they know, they bring to life the exact kind of warmth and support that the company wants everyone to experience daily.
The wave of kindness did not stop when the official celebration days ended. The energy has continued to ripple across the country, with regional teams organizing local community projects throughout the entire month. With a collective goal of reaching nine hundred seventeen distinct acts of good by the end of September, the team is showing that genuine care cannot be contained in a single day. It is a continuous journey of building real connections, one small act of kindness at a time.
