HUAWEI will release a new set of Matebooks this week and I was lucky enough to get hold of one of them. First released in 2016, HUAWEI’s Matebook has since then been a strong competitor because of its sleek design and great performance.
I’ve had the chance to review some of it before and it left a good impression that I have high hopes for the newer versions of the Matebook D15. To begin with, the D15 comes with a slim body and premium design.
On the left side is where you’ll get the USB-C port that doubles as the charging port, an HDMI port and a USB-A port. The USB-C port supports supercharge that complements its 65W compact adaptor. The right side comes with two additional USB-A ports and a 3.5mm jack.
Take note that the USB-C port doesn’t offer display output but you can always use the HDMI. It’s just that you are probably stuck with one additional display if you need to expand.
The keyboard spacing and layout are great, it also houses its famous pop-up camera.
The new D15 comes with the latest 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor, which is a quad-core component with a basic clock speed of 2.4GHz and a Turbo Boost of 4.2GHz, along with 8GB of DDR4 3200MHz dual-channel RAM. Which more than enough for your day-to-day productivity.
The 15.6-inch FHD 16:9 screen has an 87% Screen-to-body ratio with a 1920 x 1080 resolution which we’ll get into detail on our full review.
Here are the rest of the specs:
- Intel Core i5-1155G7
- 8GB RAM LPDDR4 4200Mhz
- 512GB PCIe SSD
The price has yet to be announced. I am looking forward to doing a full review, especially focusing on the Super Device feature that HUAWEI built around its ecosystem. I can initially say that the MateBook D15 is still a solid, smart, competent notebook.
Meanwhile, you can check out HUAWEI Matebook D15 from the official website.
