Pico de Loro has officially launched the holiday season with the lighting of the Christmas tree led by Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club Chairwoman Ms. Elizabeth T. Sy; Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club President Ms. Rita Dy; SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation Senior Vice President for Operations Mr. Walid Wafik; and Costa del Hamilo Vice President for Project Development Ms. Imee Francisco.
The 30-foot Christmas tree is located at the Pico beach entrance welcoming visitors before they head on to the beach to swim, take photos, or just soak in the sun. The tree was made of materials found within Pico de Loro in its effort to promote environmental responsibility and sustainability. It was designed and created by a hard-working team of Pico de Loro led by Housekeeping Supervisor and Chief Designer Mr. Florencio Garcia together with the Engineering team led by Chief Engineer Paul King. Aside from the Christmas tree, you can also find different Christmas decorations and ornaments made of sustainable materials found around the Pico Sands Hotel.
During the tree lighting ceremony, a check amounting to ₱ 30,000 was awarded to Children’s Joy Foundation, Inc. headed by Ms. Jennalyn Platon. The donation received was part of the sales made from the handcrafted housewares and decors. The sustainable handcrafts are still available for sale and proceeds of the sale items will help sustain the foundation’s programs and services for children in need.
The Christmas tree isn’t the only attraction at Pico de Loro, the walkway to the beach was also lit with lanterns leading the way to a church-shaped installation that lights up the beach entrance.
Pico de Loro’s traditional misa de gallo and New Year’s countdown party will be in full swing so you better have your reservations as early as possible. There will be masses on the eve and on the day of Christmas and New Year. To cool you down during your beach trip, Juice Box is now open at the beach club offering freshly squeezed juices. Homemade gelato carts are also everywhere for kids and adults.
Pico de Loro has announced that there will be more outdoor dining capacity and they have increased the number of wedding functions. There will be more watersports choices planned for next year and a play area for kids will be added too. A new restaurant is also set to open next year at the beach club and we were lucky enough to get a preview of the dishes to be served.
Dinner was prepared by Executive Sous-Chef Charles Marinduque and honestly, the restaurant is something to watch out for. Imagine eating paella and conchinillo, and sipping a glass of fine wine while watching the sunset at the beach.
During our stay, I realized that the beach isn’t just for summer or weekend getaways, it’s also perfect for your holiday trip because Pico de Loro made sure that the festivity and the holiday spirit are celebrated throughout the season.
