Golden Haven’s Zamboanga Crematorium Just Won a Major Real Estate Award, and Here’s Why That Matters
A crematorium winning a real estate award is not something you read about every day. But when you look at what Golden Haven built in Zamboanga City, the recognition starts to make a lot of sense.
The Golden Haven Zamboanga Crematorium took home the Gold Award in the Outstanding Developer (Specialized / Purpose-Built) Category at the FIABCI Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards 2026, held at Solaire Resort North in Quezon City. FIABCI is one of the more prestigious names in real estate recognition globally, so this is not a small thing.

The facility itself completed in 2024 and holds the distinction of being the first privately owned crematorium in Zamboanga City. That context matters. Before it opened, families in the area had limited options when it came to end-of-life services, and the facility was built specifically to address that gap. It sits beside Golden Haven Memorial Parks in Zamboanga, forming part of what the company describes as an integrated memorial care estate for the region.
Design-wise, the crematorium was built with both function and feeling in mind. The layout includes a welcoming lobby, viewing rooms, crematorium facilities, and support areas, all positioned in an accessible urban location near hospitals, schools, and commercial centers. The goal was to make a difficult process as dignified and convenient as possible for grieving families, without feeling clinical or cold.
FIABCI’s decision to recognize the project cited its architectural integrity, operational excellence, and social significance. That last point is worth dwelling on. For a facility of this nature, especially in a region with diverse cultural and religious communities, the ability to offer families choices in how they honor their loved ones carries real weight.
Golden Haven Division Head Emelia Lustado put it plainly: “The Zamboanga Crematorium is more than a facility. It is a promise that every family we serve will be given the respect and care they deserve in their most difficult moments.”
The facility also contributes to local employment and skills development, which rounds out what is essentially a project that was built to serve a community gap and ended up setting a new benchmark for what purpose-built memorial care can look like in the Philippines.
