Paradise Dynasty: A Feast of Delicious Chinese Cuisine

Paradise Dynasty: A Feast of Delicious Chinese Cuisine

When was the last time you had a great meal. something you can brag about, or write about. For me, it was just a few days ago at Paradise Dynasty in SM Aura. My fast-paced life has had me eating at fast-food restaurants lately. Little did I know that I was missing a lot, and Paradise Dynasty reminded me that I needed to slow down and reward myself with delectable dishes.

Paradise Dynasty currently has 3 branches – The Podium in Ortigas, S’Maison in Pasay, and SM Aura in Taguig. I’m fortunate to be near both The Podium and SM Aura. They open during mall hours, close around 3PM and reopen at 5PM to prepare and replenish by dinner time. This is during the weekdays only. They are open during the whole mall hours during weekends to accommodate everyone.

For starters, we got the Steamed Glutinous Rice Stuffed in Red Dates (P 238) It was a delightful twist on a classic dish. It features glutinous rice, complemented with the sweetness of red dates. It was one of the few occasions when I ate dates.

Breaking the sweetness is the savory Stir-fried Beef with Scallion (P 588) and the Stir-fried Shredded Pork in Black Bean Sauce served with Chinese Crepes (P588). It’s savory shredded pork bathed in a rich black bean sauce. It’s to be consumed while wrapped in Chinese crepe.

If you’re up for something spicy, there’s the Poached Chicken in Szechuan Style (P 398) It’s chicken is poached in a broth brimming with bold Szechuan peppers. Don’t be deceived by its fiery colors, spiciness level is bearable.

If you are looking for seafood, I suggest you order the Stewed Sliced Fish in Chinese Wine Sauce (P 488) and/or the Stir-fried Shrimps in Spicy Bean & Tomato Sauce (P 588). Both dishes are bursting with subtle sweetness and depth of flavor.

All of these dishes go well with the Fried Rice in Shanghai Style (P 288) which can also be a stand alone dish because it is a complete meal by itself, stir-fried with vegetables, eggs, shrimp, and meat. The serving can be good for 2-3 people, or you can keep it for yourself. It’s that good.

If you are into a quick bite, there’s the Pan-fried Shanghai Pork Buns (P 168 for 3 pcs), The golden-brown, pan fried bun and the savory pork filling are enough to satisfy your hunger. Let’s not forget the classic Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao (8 flavours, P 488) – Original XLB, Korean Kimchi XLB, Foie Gras XLB, Black Truffle XLB, Cheesy XLB, Crab Roe XLB, Garlic XLB, and Szechuan XLB. These xiao long baos are best eaten when served, while it’s still steaming hot.
