One of Nissan’s most recognizable nameplates in the Philippines just made its return, and it came back with a very different powertrain under the hood.

Nissan Philippines launched the All-New Nissan X-Trail e-POWER at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show, marking the nameplate’s return to the local market with an electrified setup that does not require a charging port. The e-POWER system works by using a 1.5-liter VC-Turbo gasoline engine as a generator to charge the battery, while an electric motor handles the actual driving with 204 PS and 330 Nm of torque. You fill it up at a petrol station like a regular car, but the wheels are driven entirely by electricity. It is a system Nissan has been running in other markets for a while, and the X-Trail is now its flagship application locally.

The exterior gets a glossy black grille, satin silver lower bumper, signature LED lighting, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is built around a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A panoramic sunroof, 8-way power seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control with rear vents round out the comfort features. The safety package is comprehensive, covering a 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Assist, and more.

The X-Trail e-POWER is available now at Nissan dealerships nationwide at a suggested retail price of P2,290,000. A limited Launch Edition comes in exclusive two-tone finishes: Everest White, Stealth Pearl Gray, and Sahara Dune Metallic.

Beyond the X-Trail, Nissan also gave PIMS visitors a look at where the brand is heading next. The All-New Kicks e-POWER appeared with a boxier, more upright redesign. The All-New Primera EV made its debut as a fully electric vehicle carrying a well-known Nissan nameplate back into the market with a premium, technology-forward focus. And the All-New Navara Pro Plug-in Hybrid previewed Nissan’s plans to bring electrification into the pickup segment, combining 4×4 capability with a hybrid powertrain.

Nissan Philippines President Yoshinori Kanazawa put the direction plainly: “Guided by our long-term vision to make mobility smarter and more accessible, we are bringing technologies that improve everyday driving for our customers.”
