Not every bank gets called out by name on the global stage for how it treats its clients and manages their money. EastWest just got recognized for both.
The bank recently received two honors at the Global Private Banking Innovation Awards. Its Wealth Management team was awarded Outstanding Client Experience in Wealth Management, while the Trust and Asset Management Group took home Best Discretionary and Advisory Service Offering in the Philippines. For a local bank competing in a space dominated by larger institutions and international names, that is a meaningful result.

The first award centers on EastWest Priority, the bank’s premier banking and wealth management segment. The model is built around the idea that wealthy individuals and families should not have to juggle multiple institutions to cover their financial bases. Through EastWest Priority, clients get a dedicated Relationship Manager who works across investment solutions, insurance, lending, and digital banking under one roof. The bank has also expanded its offering with digital foreign exchange capabilities through EasyWay and new investment products through strategic partnerships.
The second award recognizes the Trust and Asset Management Group, which handles discretionary portfolio management on behalf of clients based on agreed objectives and risk parameters. The group’s investment process runs across macroeconomic analysis, security selection, and active management in both local and global markets. Several TAMG-managed portfolios ranked among the top performers in their respective categories over the past year, outperforming benchmarks and peer funds across equity, multi-asset, and index-tracking mandates, which contributed to growth in assets under management.
Rafael S. Algarra Jr., SEVP and Head of Financial Markets and Wealth Management at EastWest, framed the recognition around what the bank is actually trying to do for its clients: “Our focus is not simply on delivering products, but on helping clients make informed capital allocation decisions, manage risk effectively, and build long-term financial security.”
The awards come at a time when EastWest is actively expanding its wealth management capabilities, and the recognition from a global platform suggests the direction is the right one.
