Avida Land Celebrates 34th Anniversary with a Sustainable Grand Neighbor Day

Building stronger communities and promoting eco-friendly living took center stage as Avida Land marked its 34th year with the much-anticipated return of Grand Neighbor Day. This nationwide event brought residents together in their respective Avida communities, forging new friendships and fostering a spirit of sustainability.

“Connect & Thrive: Building Stronger Communities Together” was the theme that resonated throughout the day. Nancy Delegencia, Customer Care and Product Delivery Group Head of Avida, emphasized the importance of resident participation: “We wanted to make our 34th anniversary truly special by inviting residents to be part of this milestone. Grand Neighbor Day is a time for communities across the country to celebrate together, strengthen connections, and embrace a sustainable lifestyle.”

The highlight of the event was the Avida Upcycling Competition. Residents united to create stunning Christmas lanterns using recycled PET bottles and other discarded materials. A distinguished panel of judges, including prominent art figures and sustainability advocates, evaluated the entries. Communities from Avida Towers Vireo and Avida Towers One Union Place (Arca South), Avida Towers Turf (BGC), Avida Towers Vita (Vertis North), Avida Towers Riala (Cebu), Avida Towers Atria (Iloilo), Hillcrest Estates NUVALI and Southfield Settings NUVALI (Laguna), Serin East Tagaytay, and Avida Verra Settings Vermosa (Cavite) all participated in the eco-friendly competition.

Team Avida Verra Settings Vermosa emerged victorious with their breathtaking “AVSV Lantern 2024.” Gerryringo L. Lariza, the team leader, shared the inspiration behind their design: “We aimed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that embodies the Filipino Christmas spirit. Using vibrant plastics, PET bottles, and construction debris, we transformed them into flowers, traditional decor, and symbolic lighting elements. This display brings to life the themes of unity and family.” Lariza continued, “The AVSV Lantern 2024 will be a memorable and heartfelt celebration for the community, truly capturing the essence of ‘Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko’ (We are one family this Christmas).”

Sustainable creativity wasn’t limited to the lantern contest. All ages enjoyed the “Debris to Design: Recycling to Create Home Décor” activity, where everyday materials like tissue rolls, cans, and bottles were transformed into unique and beautiful home accents.

No Filipino celebration is complete without food! The “A Taste of My Hometown” activity brought residents together to share their favorite dishes, fostering a sense of community through shared culinary experiences.

“At Avida, we believe in creating not just beautiful living spaces, but also fostering connections that enrich our residents’ lives,” said Delegencia. “We’re thrilled with the success of Grand Neighbor Day, which brought residents closer through the joy of sustainable living activities.”
