GrabTaxi is officially available in Davao City starting October 22. GrabTaxi is the largest and most popular taxi-booking mobile app in Southeast Asia. Almost everyone who has a smartphone have GrabTaxi installed in their phones and uses it for a worry-free taxi ride.
What is there to worry about when you are in the safest place in the country? Well, you can never be too careful especially when riding a taxi. With GrabTaxi, it’s not just about the passenger, the taxi drivers and the operators also benefit with the partnership.
The launch of GrabTaxi Davao was held at Saging Republik, Tionko Ave. corner V. Mapa St., Davao City. Since we came from Manila and unfamiliar with the place, we were brought to the venue by a GrabTaxi partner, which explains the number of parked taxis at the venue.
The best person to host an event in Davao is the most popular online celebrity from Davao, Bogart The Explorer. Also present during the launch was the representative of Davao’s taxi operators, and a Davao City Councilor.
Operators get to monitor their drivers’ performance and track their location. Drivers will no longer have an excuse about not having enough earning for their boundaries because they can me monitored and tracked via the app. For drivers, they get to the opportunity to earn more and also get rewarded by their performances. They also get to feel safer because robbers aren’t likely to use the app and drivers don’t have to pick up random passengers. Drivers will also have a sense of pride knowing that their taxi uses state of the art technology.

GrabTaxi users will no longer have to line up because they’re guaranteed to have their own service once their booked. They have the drivers information via app, and their location can be tracked. It has a safety tracking feature where passengers can book a taxi and watch it drive towards the pick-up point, as well as access the taxi’s plate number, driver’s name and phone number, all of which can be shared to loved ones via email or social networking sites.
“Davao is the next big thing after Manila and Cebu. Now, passengers in Davao have additional options for travel especially during rush hours,” GrabTaxi assistant general manager Natasha Bautista said. “Passengers can be certain that GrabTaxi prioritizes their safety as we are aligned with the national government’s idea and standards of commuter safety.”
Drivers are trained to be courteous and nice, they aim to give passengers the best taxi ride experience. This way, customers will keep on booking. What I love about the GrabTaxi experience, is that you don’t have to deal with snubbers and contractors.
How much does it cost to book at GrabTaxi in Davao? As an introductory promo, booking will be Free until December of this year. After that, it’ll be around P20-P30 only.

- Download the free app from App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android) and Blackberry World.
- The app detects your current location and shows you how many GrabTaxi drivers are in the vicinity.
- As soon as you input your destination, the app tells you the estimated fare.
- At your confirmation, the app will contact nearby drivers and see their responses in real time.
- When a driver confirms, the app will show you.
