Huawei Y5P Unboxing – Proving That Less is More

Huawei Y5P Unboxing – Proving That Less is More

It has been a while since I held on to an entry-level phone form Huawei. I was mostly interested in the the mid range and of course the flagship phones because it has all the bells and whistle.

Although there are a lot of great entry-level phones out in the market, Huawei made sure they have a something to lined up for the everyone. Huawei recently released the Y5P and Y6P, both bringing fresh look at entry-level phones.

The Y5P is the most affordable Huawei to date – PHP 4,490. It was made affordable but they mad it that it isn’t left out. Inside the box you’ll get a SIM ejector, a charger and a micro-usb cable. You’ll also find some papers that we don’t usually read.

It has 5.45″ TFT LCD display with 1440 x 720 resolution with an 18:9 screen ratio that allows it to display at least 10% more content than a traditional 16:9 ratio. It doesn’t have a notch display so you can find the 5MP camera and other sensors above the screen. It already comes with a screen protector applied.

Powering it is an Mediatek Helio P22 MT6762 octa-core processor (4 x Cortex-A53 2 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.5 GHz) and a PowerVR GE8320 650 MHz GPU. If you ask me it’s pretty good for an entry-level. I have yet to put it to a test first. It only comes with 2GB RAM though, which understandable given its price range. It comes with 32GB of storage but can hold up to 512GB additional via Micro SD.

At the back you’ll find the 8MP camera. The design looks like it has more than one camera but it was just a LED flash. I love how it was designed to look like it has more, and trendy. The back does not have a finger print scanner but it has a face recognition feature as it’s security feature.

Huawei Y5P is a well packaged entry-level smartphone and its specs does not disappoint. Huawei added more value for its price which would do great as a secondary phone or main phone, depending on our budget. Huwaei Y5P has a potential and it proves that less is more.
