The realme 6 series is thrice the power being the first combo to reckoned with – 6, 6i and 6 Pro. Not only being the firsts to have sport the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, the 6 and 6 Pro comes with 90hz display at an affordable price.
realme 6i was the first to be released in the Philippines which makes an awesome appetizer for the 6 series. As mentioned in the unboxing – realme 6i Unboxing and Initial Impressions, it was designed by Naoto Fukasawa, it looks cool though it looks like luggage.
It comes in Green Tea and White Milk but I like the green more as it blends perfectly with my avocados. Four cameras situated at the back – 48MP (wide, f 1.8) + 8MP (ultra wide f 2.3) + 2.4MP (macro) + 2.4MP (depth) and the finger print sensor.
Although it comes with a huge 6.5″ screen it still is easy to handle and has a secure grip even during one hand operation.
The 6.5″ display is an IPS LCD with a 720 x 1600 resolution 270 pixels per inch protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Although I would prefer AMOLED because of its deep black and vibrance. IPS LCD still delivery in color consistency and clarity.
At at the center of the top of the phone, you’ll get notch and the 16MP AI (f 2.0) selfie camera. with the earpiece almost unnoticeable. I don’t see the ambient light sensor though. It’s probably around the camera.
The rear quad camera is composed of a 48MP (wide, f 1.8) + 8MP (ultra wide f 2.3) + 2.4MP (macro) + 2.4MP (depth) sensors.
The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
Time for a selfie. I love the colors, although the sky got a little washed out right there. I’m not a fan of the beauty mode, so I didn’t turn it on. What you see there is pure, natural good looking guy.
The rear camera doesn’t disappoint as well. The images produced great contrast and accurate colors. I enjoyed taking photos with it during day time. During the night, it produces a lot of noise but comes out with good colors. Overall the camera can take decent photos worthy of sharing.
Although it isn’t as great as the flagship, camera-centric phones, it can still pack a punch. It isn’t is strength but it can go head to head with phones within the same price range.
Gaming is what realme is known for and with the addition of MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, it came with more gaming power. Although it only comes with 4GB ram gaming is still easy breezy.
The performance is enough for multitasking and play heavy graphics games seamlessly.
realme 6i comes with Android 10 with real UI OS on top. It packs a couple of cool features including dark mode, an app drawer to avoid the clutter, and it allows you to customize your icons via system settings. You can resize, reshape icons as you please. It also comes with a Smart Sidebar that for shortcuts and multitasking if you want to us the split screen feature.
Another highlight of the realme 6i its 5000mAh battery plus the 18w fast charging. The power efficient MediaTek Helio G80 SoC adds up to the battery life. That’s more time for gaming and adding up a few more episodes on your binge watching.
As a summary the realme 6i hits all the right notes – the huge screen, quad-camera (48MP at that!), fast and battery efficient processor, huge battery, and a unique design at only PHP 7,990 for 3GB / 64GB, and PHP 9,990 for the 4GB / 128GB. realme has continually been disrupting the the smartphone market with affordable and capable units. No wonder they have reach over 700% growth in 2019 and is the top 4 phone brand in PH.
