HUAWEI is on a roll, releasing awesome gadgets continuously and then they announced that the new MatePad Pro 10.8 is now available in the Philippines. The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 10.8 is at Php 46,999 with premium freebies – Huawei MatePad Pro Keyboard (SRP 6,999), the Huawei M-Pencil 2nd Generation (SRP 5,999) and the Huawei Mouse (SRP 5,9990) but only until at the end of August.
I just recently unboxed the complete set minus the Huawei Mouse I already own the MatePad T 10s so I was really excited about the pro version and all it’s accessories.
The MatePad Pro 10.8 is a flagship device so I have a lot to be excited about. It does look and feel premium and they added a lot of new features to try out. Unlike the MatePad T 10s that I have, the MatePad Pro 10.8 has an aluminum back and frame. This is also the same reason why the pro comes with a magnetic stylus support, you can’t do that on plastic.
It also has a bigger screen and an impressive screen to body ratio of 90% with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. The display is just amazing, but more of it in the review.
The power button is placed on top which is better compared to the latter that’s placed at the bottom of the volume rocker which sometimes mistaken for volume down. the volume button is now enjoying its place alone on the right side. There are four (4) speakers compared to two (2) on the latter which I believe is good enough but having four is like having an entertainment system.
There are a total of five microphones, four on the side and one below the camera. Its main camera is 13MP which can record 4K and 1080p both at 30fps. The selfe camera is also an improvement, it now comes with 8MP.
HUAWEI is really slowing moving to their own ecosystem with the HarmonyOS 2 installed on the MatePad Pro 10.8 Here’s what’s powering the device.
- Qualcomm SM8250-AC Snapdragon 870 5G
- 1x Cortex-A77 Based 3.2 GHz + 3 x Cortex-A77 Based 2.4 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 Based 1.8 GHz
- Adreno 650 670 MHz
- 8GB RAM
It can be charged wireless and also has a reverse charging feature. Battery is 7250 mAh with a 40W fast charging feature.
As for my first impressions, it’s a huge leap from what I currently own. It has a lot of bells and whistles (which I will discuss in the review) that I love which unfortunately can’t be done on my device. The table looks and feel very premium and just the right size. 10.8 is for me is better than the 12.6 because it’s more mobile. It’s size doesn’t take away the fact that it is a powerful tablet that can do a lot of things and even at the time.
It’s a very promising device that I am definitely looking forward to reviewing, so stick around check out my review soon.
Check out the review out soon.
