Atching Lilian really loves what she does, that’s why her guests love her. Look at her smile as she was preparing Tsokolate Batirol for us.

After breakfast she showed as demo of how she makes the famous San Nicolas cookies.

The San Nicolas cookies started because there was an abundant supply of egg whites, as the egg yolks were used to build churches back then. They had nothing to do with the egg whites so the locals decided to create delicacies from them, and that was the birth of San Nicolas cookies.

The wood carvings are cookie molds that are used for the cookies. She tells that each family has their own carving, it was like a status symbol back then, only the rich families have them. The cookies are given as gift to guests which then brings them home or somewhere else carrying the symbol of the family.

Last time, I bought two boxes of her cookies – one for us and one for my lola. To bad there was none for sale that day, I would bought more.
